This central town of Easter Island is around 20 minutes from the airport. It's on the island's west coast, supporting the majority of the population. There is a post office, a bank, stores, restaurants, government offices (such as for tourism and the navy), museum, and a harbor.
The main source of revenue is from tourism, from the renting of cars and hotels to the crafting of typical souvenirs such as moai carved from wood or made of clay or plaster.
